Elgar Symphony no 1

Elgar Symphony no 1 was completed in 1908.  Elgar Symphony no 1 had its premiere in Manchester in the Free Trade Hall. Elgar Symphony no 1 was dedicated to Hans Richter who conducted the concert.

Overview
Elgar symphony no 1 is a  wonderfully detailed score, worthy of much more than a few pages of notes; what follows is intended to indicate an approach to study rather than to give an encyclopaedic description.  It is essential to become familiar not just with the score, but the actual sound of the music by frequent listening to recordings.
